On this special occasion of National Fortune Cookie Day, I want to share a cute little story that revolves around a simple fortune cookie. Brace yourself for a love story that will make you believe in the strangest coincidences.
It all began in December of 2021 when my friend Natalie sent me a Snapchat of a fortune she received in her fortune cookie. The message read, "Wedding bells are in a close friend's future." We both shared a laugh, joking that it must mean Cameron was going to propose soon. Little did I know that within the next four months, our lives would be forever changed, and I would have the incredible opportunity to marry the love of my life in April of 2022. But the story doesn't end there. Two nights before our wedding, Cameron and I joined my grandparents at their Airbnb for dinner from our favorite local Chinese food place in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As we reached the end of our meal, we all cracked open our fortune cookies. My grandpa's fortune was so strange that everyone cracked up. Then, Cameron read his fortune out loud, "Don't be afraid to take that big step." We couldn't help but chuckle at the perfect timing, given that our wedding was less than 48 hours away. As I opened my fortune cookie, there it was, "Everyone has someone to love." We were all stunned. How perfect!
At that moment, my grandma captured a photo of Cameron and me holding up our fortunes, which led to even more joy. Little did we know that this seemingly ordinary moment would become an extraordinary keepsake. We threw away our fortunes.
On our wedding day, as a surprise gift, my grandparents presented us with a framed photo of us, along with the framed fortunes themselves. Now, that photo proudly sits on our dresser, serving as a daily reminder of the incredible love and luck we share. We both understand that it was a series of coincidences that unfolded over a Chinese meal, but it has become a fun memory that we cherish. We'll continue to embrace the joys and surprises that life brings our way, one fortune cookie at a time.
